The Sitka AmeriCorps Program gives young leaders the tools and resources they need to take on some of the world’s most difficult challenges. How long is the commitment?

AmeriCorps terms are twelve month commitments.

What will I do?

Depends on your host site!

Our program meets the needs of varied organizations. All positions are housed within the framework of trauma informed care.

What is AmeriCorps?

Great question.

AmeriCorps is a federal agency that support programs all across the USA. Think of it as a domestic Peace Corps. It provides you the opportunity to serve, learn and grow as a human.

For this reason, all programs are different and meet the needs of their community in a specific way. Please read the Who We Are section for more information.

DO I NEED A CAR?

No, Sitka is walkable. The vast majority of AmeriCorps members do not have cars.

However, be prepared to walk in rain, and darkness.

DO YOU HELP WITH HOUSING?

Yes!

Program Director will match you with a suitable housing arangement.

WHAT IF MY SITE IS NOT A GOOD FIT?

The Program Director will work with you to facilitate a site transfer.

Why should I do this rather than getting a job?

You will gain valuable job skills and be able to shadow professionals in your field of interest.
